North Bay Minor Hockey

Minor hockey is where it all begins, with dreams of one day playing in the big league or simply out to have fun.  For the love of the sport our kids are playing hockey and it gets us as hospitality managers out of the everyday hustle and bustle to the rink to spend time with our children as our parents did with us. As our kids grow up so do we but it’s the game we grow up with that make memories forever. (www.wfmha.ca)

Sysco Food Shows

Sysco Food Shows

We travel all around attending local food shows to continue to find new and innovative products for our customers. Our local Sysco Representative walks us through every step of the way from the freshest ingredients to the finest quality of meats... a lot of work goes into the menu behind the scene before it arrives at your table.

Over the years we have had a lot of promotions for our guests. We enjoy partnering up with local businesses such as North Bay Canoe & Kayak, Cheapskates, and Sport Chek.  We have given away everything from Kayaks, Nintendo Wii, Turkey Fryers, Smokers, Mountain Bikes, Snow Boards, and of course, our Super Bowl party has lots of prizes.

CIBC Run for the Cure

CIBC Run for the Cure

We are very dedicated to supporting such great causes such as breast cancer. For us it is about community involvement as well as family.  Our Operations Manager Derek has been involved with the Run for the Cure ever since returning home to North Bay as both his mother and wife work for CIBC and have been touched by this cause. Today Moose’s Cookhouse has raised over $3000 for Breast Cancer and we will continue to support the cause.

The Bands

The Bands

We love to play host to many musicians and their bands. Whether they have played here or not, at one time or another, we took care of them all for dinner. From HANSON, Poor Young Things, Marianas Trench, Simple Plan, McMaster & James, The Trews, and of course our very own local singer/songwriter Cody Allen, to name a few.  Music is a way of life and it’s nice after a long bus ride from the previous town to arrive in North Bay for a nice Cookhouse meal.

Movember Foundation

Movember (and how it came to The Moose)

Way back in 2008, Micheal Chirico was in Australia for Teachers College and close to the end of his post-secondary career, he noticed that all the male teachers at his school were sporting some rather spectacular lip hair.  At first he just assumed that it was an Aussie thing but after a couple of weeks, he had to ask “Mate’s; what’s up with your upper lip hair?”  Much to his surprise, every year in Australia during the month of November the country came together for a fundraising effort to raise awareness about prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives which was started down under.  Little did he know at the time this would be a life changing event.

Upon returning back to Canada in 2009, he didn’t think all that much about Movember for that year… the out of sight out of mind excuse became all too easy to ignore.  Things changed suddenly in the spring of 2010 when his father, one of our regular patrons here at The Moose, was diagnosed with cancer.  After a hard battle, his father beat cancer… and Movember was only a month away and Mike was thinking of what he could do to help out.
