The Story of The Original Fat Boy Sauce
Moose’s famous Fat Boy Sauce was actually created by Ken Alger, brother of Bob Alger owner of downtowns iconic Alger’s Furniture & Appliances that’s been around since 1986 directly behind the Moose.
When the Moose opened in 1996 the aroma of chicken wings always filled the furniture store enticing the Algers to order wings. They would often order their wings seasoned and try a variety of new hot sauces from various places. One day Ken who had many years of previous cooking experience decided he wanted to make his own sauce. He wanted it to be a blend of a variety of different sauces and capture the flavour of a little heat, with some zesty notes. Once perfected Ken would make and bottle this sauce, for family and friends and often bring it to the Moose for his wings. Eventually many people who have tried Ken’s sauce would come to the Moose suggesting we carry it because it was so good. Over the years the Moose learned how to make Ken’s Fat Boy sauce and added it to their menu. The Fat Boy sauce has become a staple sauce and is the most requested sauce we have on the menu today. It is still made from scratch in our kitchen just like Ken would have made it.
